The project was funded by the Student Innovation Fund last summer and was carried out in collaboration with the Árna Magnússon Institute for Icelandic study and Space Iceland. A Space-related vocabulary was collected in Icelandic and English and material translated and defined. The vocabulary that was created is intended to increase accessibility, coordinate the use of words, and encourage the use of Icelandic within the space industry and related disciplines. Árni Þór Þorgeirsson, a master’s student in Space Robotics and Automation at the Luleå University of Technology, assisted Hugrún with the project.

Then Jonas Egilsson, mayor of Langaness, will talk about Skyrora’s test launch within his municipality in 2020. Jónas graduated with a B.A. in political science from San José State University in 1985 and then completed a master’s degree in international relations at the University of San Diego in 1987. He subsequently took on the position of Secretary General of the Association of Municipalities in Reykjavík area and has since gained significant experience in project and project management around the country. Jónas became mayor of Langanesbyggð in March 2020.
